Gaby Scott is a San Francisco based filmmaker and editor. Originally from the Boston area, she obtained her Master’s degree in Visual and Critical Studies from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Scott then moved to San Francisco and joined the post department at Goodby Silverstein & Partners, later becoming a full time staff editor at Avocados and Coconuts production house, and she is currently a freelance film director and editor.
Scott’s graduate study focus on molecular gastronomy, affect theory, and nostalgia, and her curiosity for the hidden quotidian led her to create, direct and edit the award-winning short film, Angela Wilson, a butcher's story. What began as a project about an artisan in the food industry, a female butcher in a traditionally male dominated profession, became the tale of a last pioneer in our gold rush-incentivized city.
Her focus is on the non-linear – the cyclical interactions people have with their shifting landscapes and the philosophies that drive them.
She is currently crafting a piece on cold-water swimming in the San Francisco Bay and the seasoned members of the Dolphin Club, as well as a story about the big wave surfers of northern California and Ocean Beach.
Her editorial commercial clients include: AAA, Apple, Airbnb, Allbirds, Ancestry, Athleta, Banana Republic, Cisco, Disney, Dropbox, Fairtrade, Fitbit, Hipcamp, Impossible Meats, Inboard, Intel, L.L. Bean, Nike, Rapha, Specialized, Salesforce, The Real Real, Wells Fargo, and Yeti.
